NightDim function provides very economical approach to decrease the lighting intensity during night hours, when full intensity is not needed. It is based on night mid point calculation and duration before and after the mid point. This duration can be divided in to various power levels which then create the dimming sequence. The Dimming sequence is created in the Ecostreet software with simple and user friendly graphical interface.


Dimming sequence


Depending on the country setting, the dimming sequence is adjusted according the to sunset and sunrise of the selected location. During the year and according to the specific location, the dimming sequence may vary in the year's seasons and in this case, positive or negative offset can be added to the dimming sequence.

After the dimming sequence is set and the DIM BAR has been installed to the luminaire, dimming sequence will be initialized after the first night operation and then readjusted after every two night operations. The night operation is defined by the duration of lighting during the night time.
The Ecostreet 2 programming software allows creating dimming sequences, which are then installed into DIM BAR dimming modules by using the powerline programmer Ecobox 2 connected to a PC. It also features an energy savings calculator for savings prediction of a selected period with a display of sunrise and sunset according to an integrated calendar. The sequence can contain up to 10 intensity changes in the range of 0 – 100%.
Ecostreet energy savings
The DIM BAR dimming sequence programming is done by using the Ecostreet 2 software and the Ecobox 2 programmer, which is connected to a PC via USB connection. Encoded signal is then transferred from the Ecobox 2 to its mains output which is supplying the DIM BAR as well as the driver or ballast. The DIM BAR then demodulates the signal, decodes the instruction and stores the dimming sequence into its memory.

DIM BAR is an autonomous and stand-alone dimming module, which operates according to the installed dimming sequence. Therefore, once the DIM BAR is programmed, presence of the Ecobox 2 programmer is no longer required and the DIM BAR can be installed to the luminaire.

DIM BAR dimming module has a built-in receiver for control signals, sent from centralized control unit through powerlines. Such feature allows the user to have an operational control of the lighting, control the lighting sections individually, dim, switch OFF or bring the lighting to full intensity in case of an emergency.

The control units are equipped with the input for Ecobox programmer for after-installation programming of the dimming sequences. Control units are also equipped with RS485 interface to allow a control by Modbus RTU protocol for M2M communication systems.
